Frequently Asked Questions

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a gel-based substance that our bodies produce naturally. Therefore, dermal fillers are considered safe when administered by a qualified practitioner to avoid any potential risks. There are certain side effects that vary from client to client including swelling, tenderness and bruising to the injected area which can last up to 10-14 days. Aftercare information is provided to help manage this process.

How long will my anti-wrinkle treatment last?

Longevity of the treatment is based on the individual but usually it can last up to 4-6 months. Individual factors can contribute to the absorption of anti-wrinkle including age, muscle mass, heat exposure, activity levels and amount of product injected.

Do dermal filler injections hurt?

A strong numbing cream is applied to the area to ensure the client is comfortable for their treatment. Dermal fillers also contain a numbing agent which will continually numb the area throughout the treatment. It’s important to note that discomfort levels differ depending on the area as some may be more sensitive than others, purely because the skin is thinner in these areas.

Will antiwrinkle injections help with fine lines and wrinkles to the mid and lower face?

Antiwrinkle injections are used to prevent the forehead, crows feet and frown line muscles from contracting which softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face. Midface wrinkles are often treated with dermal filler to restore volume and plumpness which reduces the appearance of deep nasolabial/marionette lines for a more youthful look. However in some cases, dermal filler to the midface might not be the appropriate solution to the problem areas so an in-depth consultation is required to assess client needs and expectations.

How long will lip filler last?

Lip enhancement results can last anywhere between 4-9 months after treatment but is dependent on the individual. As the dermal filler used is a natural substance, the body naturally breaks it down over time. However, lifestyle factors can play a role in how filler is broken down which include sunbeds, hot climates, smoking, age & fast metabolism.

What brands/product do you use?

At Aesthetica 41, only hyaluronic acid (HA) based fillers that are CE marked are used for our treatments. These dermal filler brands are non-permanent and can be completely reversed/dissolved if needed. We stock a wide range of dermal filler brands & if there is a particular one that is preferred by clients it can be requested. However, brand isn’t always a reflection of great results and instead depends on the skill set and competence of the practitioner.
